OrlandoCameraClub > 1 - Best of Show Shawna Braunstein Adrenaline Rush Judge 1:A tough shot to get…especially at night! Use of flash…perfect. Stopped the motion, dead on!! Super! Judge 2:The only compositional improvement that could be considered for this image is to have more space in front of the motorcycle than behind it. The fact that it is high in the frame helps to tell the story of the stunt, Getting the black background leaves no distractions. Exposure is perfect and the impact is incredible. Judge 3:This appears to be unmanipulated and hence is a great action shot with an unusually clear background. Very nice.
OrlandoCameraClub > 2 - Honorable Mention Judy Hogan Portal to the Past Judge 1:Wow!!! I see nothing here but a winner!! Judge 2:A nice subject photographed well. The wagon is framed well with the barn. A fill flash could have given a little more detail to the wagon and the inside of the barn and had no effect on the background. Judge 3:I love the different surfaces of timber that frame the image. It really embellishes the theme as does the carriage and scenic background. This works well without a dominant object/subject.
OrlandoCameraClub > 3 - Honorable Mention Diane Chenault Painted Bunting Taking A Bath Judge 1:My favorite little bird. The colors are perfect!! Breeding plummage in full!!!! I would have cropped this picture to capture more of the details of the bird and colors. The orange water takes away from it somewhat. A tough shot to get. Nice capture!! Judge 2:Wow! I guess they are called "painted" for a reason. Compositionally the photographer made a nice improvement when they cropped this. It is perfectly exposed and in focus. The catch light in the bird's eye and the detail in the feathers add interest. The saturation may be a little overdone for reality but it is effective in catching the viewer's interest, and making the viewer study the image more. Judge 3:Stunning light and colors in both subject and reflections. Excellent image.
OrlandoCameraClub > 4 - Honorable Mention Pedro Katz He is not coming Judge 1:Once again, simple is best. This photograph tells a story. Great job!! I would have hidden the ring on her finger with the chair, to make the observer wonder if she was single or not. Otherwise….super!! Judge 2:The chair and straw do a great job of framing the face. There is enough of the window to understand where she is looking but not too much of its bright light to detract from the face. It seems that a soft filter may have been used, but I would prefer to see more detail in her face, especially the eyes. But, that said, this is a great portrait. Judge 3:Good facial expression and soft focus effect works. Window is slightly bright.
OrlandoCameraClub > 15 William Grisaitis Looking Up Judge 1:I like the photo. I think the crop is too tight, thus stealing some of the impact of the shot. I understand what the photographer tried to accomplish and the lighting is superb, but sometimes the background can highlight the shot. Judge 2:Diagonal lines (both vertical and horizontal) are desirable elements in composition, yet in this case seem repetitive. I think the composition could have more impact by adding an element to break the repetition. The exposure is very well done and provides detail in a wide tonal range. Using the back light is a good creative touch. Judge 3:Great color and composition. Diagonal tilt makes this interestingl
OrlandoCameraClub > 10 Jeanee James Unconditional Judge 1:Awesome composition…awesome subjects! The background texture is not faint enough, and draws one's eye away from the subject somewhat. Creatively this is a winner! Judge 2:The tenderness depicted in this image is exceptional. The only compositional change that could improve this image is to move the subject just a little to the right of the frame making less negative space behind the mother and more in front. The lighting is a little hot on the clothing and the baby's right foot. Since the direction of the light on the face is good, perhaps it could have been modified with a scrim or flag. Judge 3:Beautiful portrait showing lots of emotion. Dress a little bright.
OrlandoCameraClub > 12 Josh Best Getting Ready For Bed Judge 1:Birds are the toughest of all subjects and you captured this one. However, background is your enemy at times and in a shot like this it should contrast the subject a bit more. I like the angle and the sharpness. Good composition otherwise. Judge 2:Using the square format is a good compositional choice. It allows the lines of the beak to create the perception of a corner to corner diagonal, then breaks the pattern with the wing. It is so sharp that it entices me to study the details of the feathers. Burning the corners (top-right and bottom-left) are a creative way to cause us to focus on the eye and the region around it. The color seems a bit odd to me but it is over-powered by the sharpness & composition. Judge 3:Outstanding bird rendering. Light and background really make normally boring brown bird.
OrlandoCameraClub > 31 Jack Mulligan Waimea Bay Summer Judge 1:There is so much potential in this shot, but the little things will get you, and sometimes those things are unav oidable. I would have changed angles on this shot, or perhaps removed the bottom palm frond and let more of the yellow show. Creativity is the high point, because not many people would have thought to take it. Good eye! Judge 2:The contrasts (both color and light) and framing of the surfboard and surfer make this a strong composition. Tricky light conditions on the beach were exposed well. I would like to see more creativity in getting rid of the stairs. Perhaps some foliage could could have been cloned in to hide the most obvious portion. It leaves me wondering whether I am to be curious about what is atop the stairs, or desirous of sitting on the beach. Judge 3:Cool attempt at composition, dude. I like the way the leaning trees frame the image and the shadows soften the foreground, but the surf board is blocked by the tree, surfer is too small, dead trees are ugly, and stairway is distracting.
OrlandoCameraClub > 16 Anna Cary MELTDOWN Judge 1:This photograph, for me, crosses that fine line of wonder and awe. I'm not sure what the photographer tried to accomplish, and my eye seemed to get more and more confused as I tried. I guess I just wonder what I'm supposed to concentrate on in the shot? Perhaps if the tone was lighter?!? Judge 2:I guess this is an old pedacycle or a bicycle. Whatever, it was obviously went faster than it was engineered for. It is an original idea to me, very creative. The light painting is well done and makes me believe it was done in camera. I think the only way to improve it is for the subject to be more obvious. Judge 3:Interesting and creative effects. How did you do it?
