OrlandoCameraClub > Winter Training GroundsNene Everling Judge 1:I must disqualify myself from judging this image because I suspect that I know who the photographer is. Judge 2:Very creative and the angle adds interest. Not sure I'd know it's Florida. Judge 3:Interesting choice to tilt the image but not sure it serves the content as, alone, the content is compelling. Try cropping in to the horses and riders for a more powerful statement.
OrlandoCameraClub > St. Johns River SunriseWilliam Carpenter Judge 1:The strength of this image is the harmony of colors throughout the image and the simplicity of the image overall. Very little is distracting to the eye with the exception of the patch of vegetation in the foreground. The sunlight above and below the horizon on the left and right of the image creates a symmetrical balance to the image. The reflection of light in the foreground provides depth to the image. I like this image a lot because it is very pleasing to my eye. Judge 2:Great compositon, I'd love to see a bit more saturation. Judge 3:Nice composition. As the boat is not lit, it lacks in detail but a nice capture of a beautiful morning. Horizon looks a little bit slanted, might try straightening.
OrlandoCameraClub > Ft. Lauderdale Wakeup CallJohn Burdick Judge 1:The long time exposure has created an interesting surrealistic sky. Nice to see people getting creative with different techniques. The cityscape and the sky are the subject. Loose the rail in the foreground. Great shot. Judge 2:Mysterious feel, unusual capture, but a bit fuzzy, I'd crop the foreground out. Judge 3:Am drawn to image but want to be get even closer to the city. The fence and bait sign are somewhat distracting and the image may have more impact with them cropped out. The softness of the clouds against the harshness of the buildings is very nice, however, much of the buildings are blown out with too many highlights.
OrlandoCameraClub > Florida PedestrianPhil Robertson Judge 1:The swirling blues on the surface of the water are beautiful. Unfortunately the subject is not sharp and the tail feathers almost touching the edge of the image, bothers me. Don't get discouraged because you are on the right track. You are up close to the subject and you left room in front of the heron to walk into and man I love that background. Judge 2:Technically well done, has a painterly feel. Judge 3:Good capture, composition, and clarity. You might try leaving a little room at the top and back of the bird by cropping or perhaps taking a step back.
OrlandoCameraClub > Barred Owl in Flight by:Diane Chenault Judge 1:The light conditions have made this image very good. The exposure on the face is perfect and even though the light is in front of the bird the sun is high enough to give enough backlighting to light up the feathers. Very nicely done. Judge 2:Amazing capture, recovering the shadows under the owl's body might improve this. Judge 3:The placement of the bird in the frame is pleasing to the eye, although the connection to Florida Travel is distant.
OrlandoCameraClub > Dolphin Duo by: George Stedronsky
Judge 1:A photojournalistic shot that makes a statement is a great accomplishment. I like the fact that you are close enough to have only the subjects in view. The focus is technically sharp as a tack. Capturing the fish in the shot helps describe the story the image is telling. Well done. Judge 2:Nice tight photo, captures the moment! Judge 3:Fun, playful image.
OrlandoCameraClub > Sunrise5999 by:? ? Judge 1:The colors give this image a lot of impact. The banding colors from top to bottom are extremely pleasing to the eye and does a lot for the composition. I think shooting this scene on a vertical plane was very appropriate. Shooting a panorama of this scene would have been dynamite. I'm not sure why, but I believe I detect digital noise in the sky and cutting the bush in half along the right side is distracting. Outstanding shot. Judge 2:Might try cropping the foreground grass. Judge 3:Pretty image. Given the number of horizontal elements, you might try cropping in different ways to enable the eye to focus on one area.
OrlandoCameraClub > Serenity…Now by:Rob Broome Judge 1:The foreground is bright which immediately draws my eyes to the grass. Then my eyes travel up to the chairs and I find myself searching for something more. The chairs are the subject but there is nothing to hold my attention to the chairs. Judge 2:Seeing the horizon would add more interest. Try staightening the image. Judge 3:The Adirondack chairs speak vacation. Although the image is not straightened, it seems to work given the angles of the chairs.
OrlandoCameraClub > Waiting for the Train by:Janet Turner Judge 1:The exposure of this shot is very good showing the facial expressions of each family member, as they bide their time, waiting for the train. In the reflection, you can see the train tracks and the light of the train crossing, giving a slight hint of what they are waiting for. It would have been nice to not cut the girls feet off. Judge 2:It says travel! Technically well done. Judge 3:Would like to have seen everyone fully within the frame. Try taking a step back and to the right to include feet and the person on the right. Also, not sure what the people are doing without the title. Consider a different perspective which includes something representative of train travel such as the station, a sign, or tracks.
